For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. That your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power. Our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power. By the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. That your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power. Our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power. By the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit.

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.

No wonder some (most?) unbelievers are bored with church and yawn at the name of Jesus. Most (American) believers have no desire nor hunger to walk in the power of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Why do American believers think saying "God bless you" to strangers is some kind of great witness and testimony to the faith?

"Well, God just wants me to be a living witness..." Really?

"Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give." (Matthew 10:8)

"The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor." (Matthew 11:5)

Americans believe more in Harry Potter and UFO's than the uncomparable power of God because believers are too content sitting comfortably in their church pews instead of seeking, waiting and acting on the power of the Creator of our universe to show the kingdom of God is at hand--here, now, in the 21st century.

"[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [[b]which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death" (Phillipians 3:10, Amplified Bible)

"Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)
